FY2024 SAFER Grants for Hiring and Retaining Firefighters

FEMA’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program provides funding to fire departments to increase frontline staffing. The grants support (1) hiring firefighters and (2) recruiting and retaining volunteer firefighters. Applications are submitted through FEMA’s Grants Outcomes (GO) system.
