Eligibility

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS, NIH intramural) – initial mentored phase applicant only
Private Institutions of Higher Education – extramural phase host institution only (must be affiliated with a medical school)
Nonprofit Organizations without 501(c)(3) IRS status (other than Institutions of Higher Education) – extramural phase host institution only (must be affiliated with a medical school)
Small Businesses – extramural phase host institution only (must be affiliated with a medical school)

Key restrictions and additional requirements:

  • Initial mentored phase applicant restriction: Only NINDS may apply for the initial mentored phase of this K22 on behalf of intramural neurologists or neurosurgeons. NINDS is not eligible to apply for the extramural phase of the award.
