Petrology and Geochemistry Program: research on Earth formation, rocks, and high-temperature chemistry

This program funds basic research into how Earth formed and evolved, focusing on igneous and metamorphic processes that change rocks and their chemical signatures. Eligible topics include petrology and high-temperature geochemistry, mineral physics, mineral resources, volcanology, and work that develops analytical tools, models, or experimental methods (including for geochronology).
