This grant opportunity supports research on treatments targeting glial cells to address changes in the brain caused by addictive drugs. It seeks studies on glia-based medications, efforts to convert glial cells into neurons for treating substance use disorders, and approaches focusing on interactions between different cell types to help combat addiction.

This NOSI focuses on glia-centric strategies for reversing or ameliorating the neural processes set in play by addictive drugs. It encourages research on glia-directed pharmacotherapies, conversion of glia to neurons for SUD therapy, and cell-cell interaction approaches to treat addiction.
