TIRBEE: Grants to Establish or Strengthen Tribal Institutional Review Boards

Provides grants to federally recognized American Indian and Alaska Native tribes and related entities to establish or strengthen Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) for ethical, culturally appropriate oversight of research. Funding can support IRB creation, training, policy development, and infrastructure to improve community-led research protections.

Eligibility

Tribal Colleges and Universities — as defined at 25 U.S.C. 1603(24)
Federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribes (Tribal governments) — as defined at 25 U.S.C. 1603(14)

This NOFO is limited to eligible federally recognized Tribes and specified Tribal entities. Applications will be accepted from both individual eligible Tribal entities and consortia of two or more eligible Tribal entities to establish a new Tribal IRB or enhance an existing Tribal IRB.
